"Ask the right questions if you're to find the right answers."
~ Vanessa Redgrave
"In order for answers to become clear, the questions have to be clear."
~ Abdolkarim Soroush
In my twenties, I spend so much time asking a single question: "Why... Me?!?!?" Every time I encountered a hardship, on each occasion when someone shared something positive with me, I wondered what was it about me that made me either cursed, or blessed, depending on the situation. Why? Why? Why? And it really isn't much of a question, in my opinion. It can be more of a whiny utterance... which I can honestly say was the case with me about 95% of the time! LOL
I'm proud to say that I'm a bit older and in turn a bit wiser, and when I encounter something difficult, I ask myself, "What is the lesson in this?". Which is a question that actually can help facilitate self-reflection and inner dialog. This has proven essential in getting an actual answer, other than "Shit Happens!!", which was more often than not the definitive answer to "Why?!?!"
To limit the questions you ask yourself in life is like locking yourself indoors when its a beautiful day outside. The birds are singing, and your life is beckoning you to com play...MIND GAMES).... See what I did there?!? LOL
Seriously, though... it can be comforting, in a coddling, entertaining, warm blanky kind of way to close yourself up from asking the questions and really discovering the answers, but it's not nurturing and in reality, it's detrimental to growth. So of course this week's song choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon is John Lennon's amazing "Mind Games". Let is serve as a reminder to always ask for the lessons and the blessings in everything and anything you do.
We're playing those mind games together
Pushing the barriers planting seeds
Playing the mind guerrilla
Chanting the Mantra peace on earth
We all been playing those mind games forever
Some kinda druid dudes lifting the veil
Doing the mind guerrilla
Some call it magic the search for the grail
Love is the answer and you know that for sure
Love is a flower you got to let it grow
So keep on playing those mind games together
Faith in the future out of the now
You just can't beat on those mind guerrillas
Absolute elsewhere in the stones of your mind
Yeah we're playing those mind games together
Projecting our images in space and in time
Yes is the answer and you know that for sure
Yes is surrender you got to let it go
So keep on playing those mind games together
Doing the ritual dance in the sun
Millions of mind guerrillas
Putting their soul power to the karmic wheel
Keep on playing those mind games together
Raising the spirit of peace and love
(I want you to make love, not war
I know you've heard it before)
