" Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
“ If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.”
~ Bishop Desmond Tutu
" Prejudice is a form of untruthfulness, and untruthfulness is an insidious form of injustice."
~ Miroslav Volf
There are no words. No words adequate to describe the sadness, the disappointment, and the heartbreak I feel for the Martin family. I am also filled with an overwhelming sense of anger at another occurrence of injustice in this country.
This week's song choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon I hope will articulate everything I am trying to say much better than I will.
Tired of injustice
Tired of the schemes
Your lies are disgusting
What does it mean
Kicking me down
I gotta get up
As jacked as it sounds
The whole system sucks
Peek in the shadow
Come into the light
You tell me I'm wrong
then you better prove you're right
You're sellin' out souls but
I care about mine
I've got to get stronger
And I won't give up the fight
With such confusion don't it make you wanna scream
You're bash abusing victimize within the scheme
You try to cope with every lie they scrutinize
Somebody please have mercy 'cause I just can't take it
Stop pressurin' me
Just stop pressurin' me
Stop pressurin' me
Make me wanna scream
Tired of tellin' the story your way
You're causin' confusion
You think it's okay
You keep changin' the rules
While you keep plain' the game
I can't take it much longer
I think I might go insane
With such confusion
Don't it make you wanna scream
Your bach abusin' victimize within the scheme
You find your pleasure scandalizin' every lie
Oh father, please have mercy
'Cause I just can't take it
Stop pressurin' me
Just stop pressurin' me
Stop pressurin' me
Make me wanna scream
Break down:
Oh my God, can't believe what I saw on the TV this evening
I was disgusted by all the injustice
All the injustice
With such delusions don't it make you wanna scream
You're bash abusin' victimize within the scheme
You try to cope with every lie they scrutinize
Oh brother please have mercy 'cause I just can't take it
Stop pressurin' me
Just stop pressurin' me
Stop pressurin' me
Make me wanna scream

DO SOMETHING: Blog-In for Trayvon Martin Today!
Trayvon Martin was only 17 years old when he was gunned downed after paying a trip to a convenience store for a snack. He purchased a bag of skittles and an iced tea. He was unarmed and was merely walking back to his Father's home.
According to a police report, George Zimmerman, a captain of a neighborhood watch team, who was patrolling the neighbourhood in his car, had initially called police to report a 'suspicious person in the area'.
Despite being told to keep his distance, there was some kind of confrontation between him and Martin, which resulted in Trayvon's death. The teen was shot once in the chest just yards from his father's home. Zimmerman claimed he had fired his 9mm handgun in self-defence and the police say they have "no reason to suspect he is lying". George Zimmerman has to this date not be charged for the death of Trayvon Martin.
Today, Miss Moon's Musings is joining forces with For Harriet in staging a Blog-In for Trayvon Martin today. I stand with the Martin family and urge you to sign the above petition, and/or to reach out to Sandford Police Chief Bill Lee, as well as Florida State Attorney Norman Wolfinger to demand justice for Trayvon Martin.
