Music Therapy with Miss Moon

" You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep spring from coming."
~ Pablo Neruda

" Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems."
~ Rainer Maria Rilke

" If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."
~ Anne Bradstreet

There are times, where I wish I lived in a part of the world that had constant sunshine, year-round warmth. I can imagine living someplace where I can go lie on the beach in February, never have to trek to the subway in the snow, and never ever have to feel that awful chill to the bones one feels when its frigid out.

But the truth of the matter is, how else would we enjoy and appreciate the spring without the winter? And it's just like appreciating moments of peace without struggle.

So for this week's Music Therapy with Miss Moon, I have chosen a classic tune from the great Bob Marley to celebrate the arrival of Spring. I hope you all will enjoy "Sun Is Shining".

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here i am
Want you to know, y'all, where i stand

(monday morning) here i am
Want you to know just if you can
(tuesday evening) where i stand
(wenesday morning)
Tell myself a new day is rising
(thursday evening) get on the rise
A new day is dawning
(friday morning) here i am
(saturday evening) want you to know just
Want you to know just where i stand

When the morning gathers the rainbow
Want you to know i'm a rainbow too
So, to the rescue here i am
Want you to know just if you can
Where i stand, know, know, know, know, know

We'll lift our heads and give jah praises
We'll lift our heads and give jah praises, yeah

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here i am
Want you to know just if you can
Where i stand

(wenesday morning)
Tell myself a new day is rising
(thursday evening) get on the rise
A new day is dawning
(friday morning) here i am
(saturday evening) want you to know just
Want you to know just where i stand

When the morning gathers the rainbow
Want you to know i'm a rainbow too
So to the rescue, here i am
Want you to know just if you can
Where i stand, know, know, know, know, know

We'll lift our heads and give jah praises (repeat)
Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here i am
Want you to know just if you can
Where i stand, no, no, no, no, where i stand
Sun is shining, sun is shining

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

It's a new week, everybody!! This week's song choice for Music Therapy with a powerful one with a simple message: Wake Up and Live.

I hope that the soul-stirring sounds of Bob Marley will motivate you to make today and everyday the best day of your life.

One, two, three, four!

Wake up and live, y'all,
Wake up and live!
Wake up and live now!
Wake up and live!

Life is one big road with lots of signs,
So when you riding through the ruts, don't you complicate your mind:
Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy!
Don't bury your thoughts; put your vision to reality, yeah!

All together now:
Wake up and live (wake up and live, y'all),
Wake up and live (wake up and live),
wake up and wake up and live, yeah! (wake up and live now),
Wake up and (wake up and live) - wake up and live!
Rise ye mighty people, ye-ah!
There's work to be done,
So let's do it-a little by little:
Rise from your sleepless slumber! Yes, yeah! Yes, yeah!
We're more than sand on the seashore,
We're more than numbers.
All together now:
Wake up and live now, y'all!
(Wake up and live) Wake up and live!
Wake up and live, y'all!
(Wake up and live) Wake up and live now!
You see, one - one cocoa full a basket,
Whey they use you live big today: tomorrow you buried in-a casket.
One - one cocoa full a basket, yeah, yes!
Whey they use you live big today: tomorrow you bury in-a casket.

W'all together now:
(Wake up and live now!) Wake up and live! Oh! Yeah-eah!
(Wake up and live!) Uh!
(Wake up and live now!) Wake up and live!
(Wake up and live) Keep on playin'!
(Wake up and live, y'all) Uh! Yeah! Yeah!
(Wake up and live!)
(Wake up and live now!)
(Wake up and live!) Break it down!

Come on, man!
How is it feelin' over there?
(Wake up and live now) All right!
(Wake up and live!) Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Uh!
Come on, man!
You gotta wake up and live!

Life is one big road with lots of signs, yes!
So when you riding through the ruts, don't you complicate your mind:
Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy!
Don't bury your thoughts; put your dream to reality, yeah!

W'all together now:
(Wake up and live, y'all)
(Wake up and live!) Wake up and live, yea-eah!
(Wake up and live now!)
(Wake up and live!)
Wake up and live now!
(Wake up and live) Wo-oh!
Wake up and live now!
Wake up and live

DO SOMETHING: Download "High Tide or Low Tide" and Help East Africa

The beautiful Bob Marley & The Wailers 1973 song "High Tide or Low Tide" has been released as a download for a very special cause.

Benefiting Save The Children’s East Africa Appeal, this organization use the funds get food and medical help to the 10 million people in the region suffering from malnutrition and starvation.

I am joining a long list of celebrities (Although I'm not one) including Shakira, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Kanye West and more supporting the track by posting it on their Facebook and Twitter pages (I'm posting it here!) , the objective to get as many downloads as possible.

Director Kevin Macdonald ("Last King of Scotland") has also released a short film using "High Tide or Low Tide” as the backdrop, sharing the startling footage taken while in East Africa last week.

Bob’s widow, Rita Marley said, “Not one child should be denied food nor water. Not one child should suffer. Along with Save the Children, we [must] stand up together as friends to put a stop to this, to feed our children and to save their lives."

Save the Children is on the ground saving lives but every little bit can help reach more children quickly. To download the track and/or donate, please click the above banner or visit http://www.imgonnabeyourfriend.org/

A Little [BOB MARLEY] for a Saturday Night

On this particular anniversary of 9/11 I think that this week's song for a Saturday Night is fitting. This world is lacking in compassion and it is my hope that everyone that reads these words will play the song... crank that mutha up as high as it will go... and send love, light and compassion to everyone across the globe tonight.

Because we are more and more becoming a world of "Them's" and "Us's", and the reality is that most of us want the same things in life: A chance for a good life, good health for ourselves and our families. If we stopped focusing on our differences and open ourselves to the possibility of similarities, empathy and compassion might be more common. And for real, y'all... it should be!

One Love.... One Heart... and

A Little [BOB MARLEY] for a Saturday Night

This is one of my favorite songs by Bob Marley, and I can't think of a better Saturday Night than tonight to play this.... someone outside is having a barbecue, I am chilling, enjoying a nicely scented breeze that mixes quite lovely with the tune!!
