A Little [SALEM AL FAKIR] for a Saturday Night
It's the very last Saturday Night of 2012, and I'm back to share another song from an artist you may not know much about, but still I think you'd dig!
If you've gone through a break up recently (or even not too recent), allow me to introduce you to your new anthem. I hope you all will enjoy "I'm So Happy"!!
If you like what you hear, you can check out more by visiting http://www.salemalfakir.com/eng/.

Music Therapy with Miss Moon
Everything you need in life begins with you. It's biological: your body needs oxygen to survive, so you breathe... your body craves rest, so you sleep. And it doesn't stop with our basic bodily functions. LOL
We spend so much of our lives, straining to hang on to just a finger's length grasp of what we want, when there are more effortless ways of getting it.
This is what this week's Music Therapy with Miss Moon is all about. "Love" can represent anything you aspire for, or it can be finding the one that fills your heart with joy. Take the energy out of pulling and fighting and use it to lifting yourself up. Meditate, read, laugh, cry, feel and grow. As you lift yourself up, you'll recognize you won't have to stretch and pull anymore, as you've reached a height where the love (or the job, or the vacation, or the life) that you want is right in front of you.
I hope you all will enjoy "Love Will Find Me" by Little Jackie.
My life thus far has been held together
by band aides and safety pins,
nothin quite fits but I'm still tryin
to squeeze my body into it,
I've been frontin, I've been wantin
someone who fits me effortlessly,
with ease and room to spare,
cause I've endured some wear and tear
with all these meaningless love affairs,
fake smiles and dishonest laughter,
fast forward to the morning after
I'm all dolled up lookin like a disaster
I just wanna wash off the lipstick
take off the stilletos
play my music and get with my own flow
and love will find me eventually
I'm gonna dance with my shadow
I'm goin all out, never forgettin what I'm all about
and love will find me eventually
you just wait and see yeah
I'll just sit here and look real cute
while he buys me drinks I'll look for an escape route
grab my purse and exit through the back door
get in my car put the petal to the floor and
I'll fly home singin out loud
life's too short so get off my cloud,
if I can't be myself
I don't wanna be with nobody else.
I just wanna wash off the lipstick
take off the stilletos
play my music and get with my own flow
and love will find me eventually
I'm gonna dance with my shadow
I'm goin all out, never forgettin what I'm all about
and love will find me eventually
you just wait and see yeah
cause they always just crash and burn
crash and burn, when will I learn
to stop lyin, stop hidin, quit cryin stop tryin
I just wanna wash off the lipstick
take off the stilletos
play my music and get with my own flow
and love will find me eventually
I'm gonna dance with my shadow
I'm goin all out, never forgettin what I'm all about
and love will find me eventually
you just wait and see yeah

Music Therapy with Miss Moon
Happy Monday, everybody!!! Hopefully those of you in the Northeast like me are recovering happily from Hurricane Irene (ol' tired heffa... That is my official name for that hurricane, btw!). Anyway, leaving tangent for the matter at hand.
Breakups. Most of us have been there, and they're seldom easy. I have been dumped, and have been the dumper.... and both were painful experiences for me. This week's song choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon serves as a musical sister circle that's perfect when you're just out of a relationship. I hope that it's message is one that uplifts and inspires... "Give It Up, Turn It Loose
", courtesy of En Vogue.
Baby girl (unfair but true)
Can love him once but not twice
Who plays games with no rules (a fool)
Tears for fears (are no surprise)
Happens almost every time
Love knocks you on your behind
(Loved you hard, loved you long, now his love is gone)
Love 'em and leave 'em (is the rule of most dogs)
You must be strong
Stand up on your own
Take control of your life
I've seen it time and time again
It's not worth it, no
Don't be down and miserable
You and only you
Can bring yourself around
Give it up, turn it loose
Oh, if he don't wantcha, you don't need 'em, girl, yeah
Give it up, turn it loose
Oh, you got to have
Fact of life (so sad but true)
Love can often hurt you
Leaving scars most of your life (nightmares can haunt you)
But fairytales of love, can come true
Both play tricks on your mind
(You'll be fine, take this time, to find piece of mind)
Sooner or later (bad feelings will die)
You must be strong
Don't blame it all on love
In time good things will come
I've seen time and time again
It's not worth it, no no
Don't be down and miserable
You and only you
Can bring yourself around
Give it up, turn it loose
Oh, if he don't wantcha, you don't need 'em, girl... yeah
Give it up, turn it loose
Oh, you got to have
(Give it up)
Give it up
(Give up)
Give it up
(Give up)
Give it up
Give it up turn it loose
Turnin' it loose, baby
(repeat till fade)

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

Anyone who's been in and has left a bad relationship can remember the moment of clarity that made you decide to end it. The (as Oprah would say) "Aha!" moment in which you realize that the relationship is no longer nurturing your heart and your spirit. I wish that today's song choice for Music Therapy was around when I had my moment of clarity... but it's likely that Esperanza Spalding was coloring in grade school at the time! LOL
I hope that her beautiful and empowering song, "Precious
Love me or leave me
But please
Don't deceive me
And say you
Love me how I am
You love the way
I fit some ideal
Not the real woman
You've yet to understand
See love ain't all heaven
And I am no angel
But I do the best I can
You always wanted
Something more from my body
And said you needed
Something more from my loving
But all you got was me
And that's all that I can be
I'm sorry if it let you down
Now it's no nice excuse
But all the magic was used
Up on trying to uphold
Some kind of tame
Flattering persona
That soon enough
Was getting real old
It takes more than pressure
To change rock to diamond
Now all you have is sand
Slipping through your fingers
You always wanted
Something more from my body
And said you needed
Something more from my loving
But all you got was me
And that's all that I can be
I'm sorry if it let you down
But I'm not gonna sit around
And waste
My precious divine energy
Trying to explain
And being ashamed of things
You think are wrong with me
I'm not gonna sit around
And waste
My precious divine energy
Trying to explain
And being ashamed
Of what you think
Is wrong with me
Set you up
You say I set you up
Like I was different
Than what I am
Offering you now
Let you down
And drug your heart around
Did you forget about
All of the love
And the acceptance
That you promised me too?
You always wanted
Something more from my body
And said you needed
Something more from my loving
But all you got was me
And that's all that I can be
I'm sorry if it let you down
You always wanted
Something more from my body
And said you needed
Something more from my loving
But all you got was me
And that's all that I can be
I'm sorry if it let you down
But I'm not gonna sit around
And waste
My precious divine energy
Trying to explain
And being ashamed of things
You think are wrong with me
Me, I'm not gonna sit around
And waste
My precious divine energy
Trying to explain
And being ashamed
Of what you think is wrong with me
