A Little [VAN HUNT] for a Saturday Night

Tonight is the last Saturday Night in June. I know that I promised to share a Jazz song, but I fell in love with a song this week that I had to post instead, as now seems like the most fitting time to share it. (Those of you that like the Miss Moon's Musings FaceBook page might already know where I'm going with this... LOL)

I hope that in listening to "June" by Van Hunt, you will fall in love with this song as I did! I swear this song is like drinking a couple of glasses of good wine... Instant Mellow!!! It's also fitting, that as I was thinking this song would be PERFECT for a June wedding, that New York State was passing a bill allowing same sex marriage, which will ultimately make this wonderful place I call home the sixth, and largest, state in the union to adopt gay marriage. I have never been more proud to be a New Yorker!!! Love is love, y'all, and I hope that the song for a Saturday Night will inspire love for all of you.

A Little [LES NUBIANS] for a Saturday Night

Admittedly, my "for a Saturday Night" song selections tend to be on the mellow side. Every once and while, I pick a song that dance-worthy and is befitting a night out on the town. But some of my favorite Saturday nights are spent chilling at home, and the music I pick reflects that.

This week's pick popped into my mind while taking a walk outside. Les Nubians have that amazing ability to provide that certain feeling of calm and tranquility, something I think everybody can use from time to time. I hope you all will enjoy "Les portes du souvenir" by Les Nubians and may the song fill your Saturday Night with peace.

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

I used to play this song on a loop (I think my Mum to this day silently curses whoever invented the repeat function of a CD Player!) for hours at a time. The only time you will catch me rapping is if I am rapping along to Neneh!!







This song is my version of the Rocky theme... it motivates me and encourages me to go for it! Will I ever win? Who know... but I'm still trying!

Mo' Music Therapy with Miss Moon

Spending the past 24 hours reading about Aiyana Jones, then hearing news of a 5-year old girl being handcuffed and arrested for having a temper tantrum in school,  and the story of a man in Massachusetts who tried to exchange his infant daughter for two 40 ounces of Malt Liquor has made me contemplate hijacking Johnny Depp's private island... Pirate style (I think he would appreciate the gesture, frankly!)

I gave myself a pass to have a double dose of Music Therapy with Miss Moon this week (I may do this again in the future), as I listened to this song this afternoon and it immediately lifted my spirit! I hope it does the same for you!! Janelle Monáe "Tightrope" Feat. Big Boi
