A Little [AMEL LARRIEUX] for a Saturday Night

It's another Saturday Night, and I'm back with another song choice for my ABCs of Good Music.

Tonight's song choice is one of the most beautiful, romantic tunes I've heard, and of course I will be swooning a-plenty tonight. I hope Amel Larrieux's "Beyond" does the same for you, too!!

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

"I deepen my experience of God through prayer, meditation, and forgiveness."
~ Marianne Williamson

Happy Monday, Everybody!!! This week's Music Therapy with Miss Moon has become a sort of anthem for me in the past few weeks. Because the lyrics speak volumes to who I am and how I feel at this moment, I will let Amel Larrieux fill you in. I hope you all will enjoy "Orange Glow".

I want to rise
above
My fears before they burn my solar plexus
Don't want to fight
The new
Just meditate on the state
Of what I'm changing into

Touch the light
orange glow to wash your soul
illuminate you
out of sight
burn your house of pain and watch the flames ignite your breakthrough

I want to take
That ride
To the planet where the brave me resides
And I will face
The fire
Cuz aint no breakthrough gonna come without no sacrifice

Touch the light
orange glow to wash your soul
illuminate you
out of sight
burn your house of pain and watch the flames ignite your breakthrough

I'm like
Vibrating as the liquid enters my fingertips
Pulses in my veins
From my toes to my lips
Fuels my brain
Frees my pain
Breaks my mental chains
Awakened I am
As I blink my third eye
One life
Have I
So its time to live

Touch the light
orange glow to wash your soul
illuminate you
out of sight
burn your house of pain and watch the flames ignite your breakthrough

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

Happy Monday, All!!! This week's choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon has become one of my favorites in my Morning Mix. I like songs that are mellow, yet they get you motivated at the same time. I hope that all of you will enjoy Amel Larrieux's beautiful song, "Get Up".

Mmm...
La da da da da da da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da da da da

6 a.m. gettin’ out of bed again
Can’t get back in ‘cause sleep ain’t gonna pay the rent
Day to day, I got you workin’ like a slave
Takin’ credit for the work you gave and stealin’ your raise, well I

I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up
I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up

People try to pull the wool over your eyes
Don’t know why you want to profit from your demise
They’d like to cover up and sweep it all inside
Oh, baby, baby, don’t you cry for you got your prize, oh, I

I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up
I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up

La da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da da da da
A bom bom bom bom ba da da
Oh...oh...oh...I

I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up
I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up

I know, I know
I see you down, when you gon’ get up
I know
I see, oh..., when you gon’ get up

I know you’re down, when you gonna
La da da da da da da da da da la la la la la la la la
La la la da da da
Doo doo doo doo doo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
No...
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

Happy Monday, y'all! This week's choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon serves as a reminder that when you look within and truly reflect on everything you have that brings you joy... you'll realize just how rich and full your life is.

I will let Amel Larrieux articulate it better than I could ever.... I hope you all will enjoy, "All I Got"

Got these feet
In these shoes
They walked a mile or two,
Got these legs
They've done work
That's left them black and blue,
Got these hips
They are wide
But they know how to move,
Got these hands
To lift the weak
Or slap down a racist fool

[Chorus:]
This is all I
This is all I got

Got this place
I call my home
But it's no Taj Mahal,
Got these pockets
They ain't full grown
But I won't steal from no one,
Got this heart
Well it's been broke
But it's still beating strong,
Got this song
It ain't much
But it helps me carry on

[Chorus:]
This is all I
This is all I got

Got a will
That lifts me up
When my body can't
Got a way
Of getting' through
With no helping hands
Got a mind
That lends me strength
So I ain't afraid to stand
Got a love
So deep in me
Can't be stopped by any man

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

I find it unbelievable that in a few short weeks, it will be the one year anniversary of starting my new job. I remember being so excited to get back into the routine and nervous I wouldn't do a good job. I also was compiling a list of songs I'd use for my wake up mix, a list I shared in a Music Therapy with Miss Moon posting on September 7, 2009.

And I have used this playlist since that time. I've added a few songs to the list (Had to add Georgia Ann Muldrow's "Roses", Janelle Monae's "Tightrope" and Zo!'s "Greatest Weapon of all Time"!), but it has started my work day for this past year.

So to celebrate my first year at my job, I decided to create a new playlist. I don't know what the list will consist of yet, but I do know that it will begin with Amel Larrieux's "InI", which is this week's selection for Music Therapy with Miss Moon.

What song would YOU add to my 2010 Wake Up Mix? Leave a comment with your pick for a chance to wish a very special thank you gift!!!
