A Little [TAMIA] for a Saturday Night

Wow, I cannot believe we will be ending our journey through the 90s each Saturday Night as we are ending 2011!!! I for one am looking forward to a lot of Saturday Nights, complete with some good good music in 2012!

Tonight's song is one that was actually released in 1998, and is one that I hope will get you all in the holiday spirit. A part of Jermaine Dupree's Soulful Holiday collection, 12 Soulful Nights of Christmas, here's "The Christmas Song" by the lovely Tamia.

A Little [AALIYAH] for a Saturday Night

I cannot believe this song is 15 years old, but it was released in 1996 (It seems like yesterday!!!).

I was 18 years old when this song came out, how crazy is THAT?!?! And more insane, is the fact that Aaliyah is no longer with us. I miss her voice and I'm sorry I will never see her star rise like it was intended to. I hope you all will enjoy "If Your Girl Only Knew".

A Little [D'ANGELO] for a Saturday Night

I remember the first time I heard tonight's song. I actually was introduced through the music video and like many straight women (and I'm sure a lot of gay men) thought, "Who the eff is THAT?!?!?!?!", and more importantly, "Where can I get one?!?!?" LOL

Yeah, he's not singing about a girl... but we can dream, can't we? Our trip through the 1990s is picking up steam, with a bit of heat from D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar"...

A Little [LISA STANSFIELD] for a Saturday Night

Let me tell you about this song right here, which came out May of 1992. I used to sing this song like I meant every single word. You would've thought that my 14 year old self had been through some HEARTBREAK!!! LOL

I recently rediscovered this song as an adult, and I have to admit, I found myself clutching the air (you know that move singers do where they make a fist?) and singing along with Lisa Stansfield's "All woman", just like I did way back when. I hope all the ladies will join me in singing and all the men will give their ladies some exra love this Saturday night.

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

There are certain songs that just trigger memories of my High School days.

They weren't all great, but I listen to a certain song, and can think back to riding the B67 bus down Seventh Avenue in Brooklyn on my way to school, listening to a mix tape I made on my Walkman.

This week's music therapy selection is one that got serious rotation in my teens. Listening to it today at 32(about to turn 33), I still get that "First Day of School" feeling... where I'm dressed in the best outfit my Mum and I picked out, and the biggest worry in my life was that my crush du jour had no idea I existed! LOL

I hope you will enjoy "Linger" by The Cranberries. The first song in Miss Moon's Mixtape: 90s Playlist. (Coming soon... Possibly!) What song would YOU add?!?!?
