Music Therapy with Miss Moon

Happy Monday, Everybody!!! To start this week, I thought I would share with you all one of my favorite songs to wake up to. Whenever this song plays in my morning mix, I always stay in bed a few moments until its over before getting up.

I hope that Any Other Day by Wyclef Jean (featuring Norah Jones) will left your spirits as much as it lifts mine in the morning.

Hmmmmmmmm... mmmmmmm
Today is, not like, any other day
This one is runnin, turn a darker shade of grey
What, will, I, have, left (tell me tell me)
(Somebody tell me now)
When, this, hard, rain's, gone away
There is a safe place, that I used to know
It's the only place, that I want to go
Where, else, could, I (tell me tell me)
(Somebody tell me now)
'Til, this, hard, rain's, gone away

Grandma, grandpa, mother, father
Sister, brother, Lord
Please help the child
I heard the preacher say it's okay, I heard the preacher say
I see the airplane
I hear the engine on the boat
But y'all can't see me wavin the flag
Somebody please wave the flag

What, will, I, have, left (tell me tell me)
(Somebody tell me now)
When, this, hard, rain's, gone away
Today is, not like, any other day
So I'm gone, I have to find, my own way
(People, we gotta find another way!)
Can, you, tell, me, how
When, the, hard, rain's, gone away

I see them wavin the flag
Tell the chopper over here man we wavin the flag
I see them wavin the flag
Tell the boat over here man we wavin the flag
Man I'm wavin the flag
Tell the chopper over here man we wavin the flag
Man I'm wavin the flag
Tell the boat over here man we wavin the flag, wavin the flag, wavin the flag

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

Happy Monday, All!!! This week's choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon has become one of my favorites in my Morning Mix. I like songs that are mellow, yet they get you motivated at the same time. I hope that all of you will enjoy Amel Larrieux's beautiful song, "Get Up".

Mmm...
La da da da da da da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da da da da

6 a.m. gettin’ out of bed again
Can’t get back in ‘cause sleep ain’t gonna pay the rent
Day to day, I got you workin’ like a slave
Takin’ credit for the work you gave and stealin’ your raise, well I

I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up
I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up

People try to pull the wool over your eyes
Don’t know why you want to profit from your demise
They’d like to cover up and sweep it all inside
Oh, baby, baby, don’t you cry for you got your prize, oh, I

I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up
I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up

La da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da da da da
A bom bom bom bom ba da da
Oh...oh...oh...I

I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up
I know you’re down, when you gon’ get up
I see you down, when you gon’ get up

I know, I know
I see you down, when you gon’ get up
I know
I see, oh..., when you gon’ get up

I know you’re down, when you gonna
La da da da da da da da da da la la la la la la la la
La la la da da da
Doo doo doo doo doo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
No...
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

I find it unbelievable that in a few short weeks, it will be the one year anniversary of starting my new job. I remember being so excited to get back into the routine and nervous I wouldn't do a good job. I also was compiling a list of songs I'd use for my wake up mix, a list I shared in a Music Therapy with Miss Moon posting on September 7, 2009.

And I have used this playlist since that time. I've added a few songs to the list (Had to add Georgia Ann Muldrow's "Roses", Janelle Monae's "Tightrope" and Zo!'s "Greatest Weapon of all Time"!), but it has started my work day for this past year.

So to celebrate my first year at my job, I decided to create a new playlist. I don't know what the list will consist of yet, but I do know that it will begin with Amel Larrieux's "InI", which is this week's selection for Music Therapy with Miss Moon.

What song would YOU add to my 2010 Wake Up Mix? Leave a comment with your pick for a chance to wish a very special thank you gift!!!
