:::drools::: Paula Patton-style for Plus Size Fashionistas

Can you believe it's been over a month since my last Plus Size Fashionistas post?!? I'll tell you, having a cracked laptop screen was no fun at all... it was very difficult to manuever to be creative with my posts!! Fortunately I have a new (to me) laptop that I'm having a blast with thus far... and you all get to reap the benefits, because I have recreated Paula Patton's adorable outfit for my full figured friends out there.

Paula's dress is actually from Kova and T Georgina, and can be purchased for a pretty darn reasonable price for readers who have to have it's polkadotted glory! For those of us who need something a bit more suited for our curves, here's my remix of her look:

Dress: SL Fashions Sleeveless Polka-Dot Tie-Neck Plus Size Dress ($69.99, Macy's)
Booties: Yellow Perforated Faux Leather Lace Up Chunky Heel Booties ($23.99, Ami Club Wear)
Clutch: Libutti Clutch ($45.00, Aldo Shoes)
Earrings: Rhinestoned Loop Earrings ($7.80, Forever 21)

Miss Moon's Musing About: The Best 'GET THAT JOB' Interview Look

So it's been a little over four months since I've been unemployed. While I've done my best to make the best use of this time, I think it's time to shake things up and be a bit more proactive in my job search.

One of my favorite things to do is invest in a KILLER job interview ensemble... something that has just enough of my personality, a splash of professionalism, and a liberal application of "Check me out, you know you want me for this job!!!". I've always found that when there is a kick ass look hanging in your closet, you get excited about the prospect of wearing it on an interview. When you're excited about the possibility of going on an interview, you're more excited when job searching. And when you're excited about job searching, that energy and intent can be conveyed in your application.

This results in a job interview... which results in an opportunity to rock your interview duds!!! And in the very best case scenario... it results in your getting that great job!! So I searched the internet for the past few days, looking for outfits that I would actually wear on a job interview. I've put together three in total, and I want to know which of the three looks, (if you were a prospective employer) would MOST make you want to hire me.
Now keep in mind, I'm not looking for a job on Wall Street, which would require me to wear a suit 5 days a week. My perfect opportunity would be a job where I could wear jeans if I wanted to... but honestly, I rarely do. I really really like this outfit and I think if I rocked this with my white blazer, it would really be an eye catcher:

Top: ASOS CURVE Jersey Top With Peplum Hem ($39.99, ASOS)
Pants: Slant Pocket Slim Leg Pant ($39.99, Avenue)
Shoes:  HILSER Flats ($50.00, Aldo Shoes)
Necklace: Encompassing Peacocks Indie Necklace ($25.99, Ruche)

This look is a bit more colorful, which I am all about, but I don't believe it's SUPER overwhelming as to appear unprofessional in a job interview.

Top: Lime Leaf Print Top ($35.00, Evans USA)
Cardigan: Women's Plus 3/4-Sleeve Cardigans ($36.94, Old Navy)
Pants: Flared Leg Trousers ($59.95, Lane Bryant)
Shoes: SM Women's Heaven Multicolor Flat ($39.95, DSW)

Now,  I am generally ALL ABOUT pants when going on a job interview. But chalk it up to getting older and more adventurous, I would welcome the opportunity to wear a skirt on an interview now. And to celebrate my new-found chutzpah when it comes to job interview apparel, I've selected this outfit:

Top: Printed Poncho Blouse ($29.50, Ashley Stewart)
Skirt: Bespoke Perfect Black Pencil Skirt ($48.00, Simply Be)
Shoes: Seychelles Freesia Flat ($79.95, DSW)
Bag: Hurley Prism II Book Tote ($40.00, Zappos)

There you have it. Three looks I could sincerely see myself wearing on a job interview. Now it's up to you which one I invest in: Look One, Look Two, or Look Three.... so be sure to leave me a comment with your pick!!!!

:::drools::: Rashida Jones-style for Plus Size Fashionistas

I have mentioned my love for Rashida Jones' sense of style in the past. When thinking about which celebrity I should look to for this week's post, I pondered why I hadn't given Rashida a shout out in a while.... and I sought to remedy that. Fortunately for me, I did not have to look long for the outfit to recreate!!!

Seriously, how cute is this outfit?!?!? Most times when putting together outfits for these posts, I pick outfits I would LOVE to wear... but most likely wouldn't. This is not the case for this look... I would TOTALLY wear this outfit on the weekends, if I was going someplace I need to look very cute at. Here's what I came up with:

Top: Grey Floral Shirt ($49.50, Evans USA)
Jeans: Women's Plus Dark-Wash Skinny Jeans ($39.94, Old Navy)
Boots: Kensie Girl Ranella ($57.99, Zappo's)
Clutch: Glamour Pearl Clutch Bag ($14.80, Forever 21)
Necklace: Long Pearl Necklace ($59.95, Coldwater Creek)

:::drools::: Halle Berry-style for Plus Size Fashionistas

I've always been a fan of Halle Berry's style choices. Though it can be argued that Halle would look gorgeous rocking even the infamous Swan dress made popular by Icelandic singer Bjork during the Oscars several years ago! LOL

I spotted this picture of Halle at an event recently, and I knew that this would be my first outfit remix of 2012.

I love how this outfit looks both casual and chic at the same time. She could very easily take the heels off and replace with a pair of flats for a quick errand before going out to smile for the cameras!!! Here's what I came up with:

Blazer: Z. Cavaricci Couture - Black White Pinstriped Jacket ($64.50, Torrid)
Top: Tiered Tank ($49.90, Eloquii)
Pants: Leather Jeggings ($119.99 - $139.99, Jessica London)
Pumps: Zigi Soho Studious Pump ($44.94, D.S.W.)

Complete this outfit with minimal jewelry... perhaps simple studs or hoop earrings and you're good to go! I would rock a red lip for a bit of extra Va Va Va Vooom!

Best of Brooklyn: Restoration Rocks 2011

This past weekend marked the beginning of the seventh annual Bed-Stuy Alive here in my hood. Bed Stuy Alive! is a week of activities (October 8 - October 15) that celebrates the community’s many treasures, from its history, commerce and culture. This year’s theme is Live Healthy, Live Well, Live Green.

A major highlight of the week is probably the best free concert series to come to Bed-Stuy, Restoration Rocks! This year's line up was spectacular, Pharoahe Monch , Idle Warship (Supergroup featuring Talib Kweli, and Res), Mos Def with the Brooklyn Philharmonic (DOPE!!!) and a lot more local artists showcasing their talents. While I was super excited to see all the act, I must admit, Chris and I left the house super late, so I only had the opportunity to see Mos Def perform.

I don't have to tell you he killed it, right?!?! LOL

After enjoying Mos (It's going to take some use to calling him Yassin Bey next year!), Chris and I walked around the festival, checking out the various vendors, seeing our options for lunch (the variety of food was bananas!!! Soo many choices!), and people watching...

I met Veronica at the food court area, enjoying some delicious smelling yummies. We talked food, blogs and she hipped me to some great vendors at the event.

I also ran into my friend (and Badass Blogger), Michelle.. whom I literally had not seen since grade school! LOL

She was even kind enough to snap a picture of Chris and I!!!

I had such an amazing time, but I knew I had some henna-ing to get started, so we called it a day and headed back to the casa, and managed to snap a few more pics in the process.

(Finally! An outfit post! LOL) What I'm Rockin':

Tuxedo Jacket: Torrid
Tunic: Lane Bryant
Jeggings: Old Navy
Boots: Torrid
Scarf & Bracelet: Street Vendors in BK
Earrings: Butterfly Earrings from Bella Duafe
Nails : Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicures in Gray by Gray
