A Little [BETTY DAVIS] for a Saturday Night
I'm back with another song from some of my all time favorite female artists this Saturday Night, and I couldn't think of anyone else I'd love to share tonight than the fabulous and completely underrated Betty Davis.
I hope you all will get funky with me as Betty pays tribute to some musical pioneers with "F.U.N.K"!!

A Little [BROWNSTONE] for a Saturday Night
Happy Saturday, Beautiful Friends!! Today's song choice for a Saturday night is one that I am super duper excited to be sharing. This song, in fact, is one I've been wanting to use for this post for several years, but hadn't been able to find it on YouTube until recently.
I actually own the cassette single of this song (Yes folks... your friend Audrey is OLD!!), and because I unfortunately do not own a cassette player (Or a CD player for that matter... I'm totally Ms. iPod!), I hadn't heard it for sometime. Until recently, by sheer happenstance, this particular version of the song was a suggested video for me. I clicked the link and upon hear the opening chords, I yelled "Yessss!!!", and instantly decided that tonight I will share Brownstone's beautiful rendition of the Eagles' classic, "I can't tell you why". Enjoy!!

A Little [GOAPELE] for a Saturday Night
It's the last Saturday Night in June, and like the old soca song, I got a weakness for sweetness tonight. I want to hear a song that makes me feel like I'm sipping on something sweet and soothing. I feel as if I've been traveling the desert for days and I am in definite need of refreshment. But where can I find such a song to play tonight?!?
Oh hey, Goapele! You say you have the perfect song? And it's called "Milk and Honey"? That DOES sound sweet!
So tonight, I hope that Goapele's "Milk and Honey" soothes your spirit like milk and honey soothes the tongue!! And if you dig the song, be sure to show your support by buying the single for the low price of $1 at http://goapele.bandcamp.com/track/milk-honey!!!

A Little [SADE] for a Saturday Night
There is nothing... N-O-T-H-I-N-G better for a mellow, chill, and relaxed Saturday Night than a little Sade. I'm am braiding up a storm right now, but you can best believe I will be taking a well-deserved break to sip a glass of wine and vibe out to tonight's Saturday Night song pick!
I hope you all will join me in vibing out to Sade's classic, "By Your Side", and if you are fortunate enough to have a very special someone to relax with, get a slow dance in for yours truly! ;)

A Little [DONNY HATHAWAY] for a Saturday Night
It's the first Saturday Night of May, and I in a bit of a lovey-dovey romantic mood. I am (very!) happily single at the moment, but I know that somewhere out there is the man for me. A man that is kind, loving, respectful, honest, genuine, selfless, giving, funny, sexy and true..... I know that he's out there looking for me the way I'm looking for him. And perhaps he is in a lovey-dovey mood tonight, too! LOL
So for tonight's Saturday Night song, I am playing "You Were Meant for Me" by the one, the only, Donny Hathaway. And I dedicate it to the love of my life, whoever and where ever he is.... I cannot wait to meet you! :)

A Little [MILLIE JACKSON] for a Saturday Night
Yes yes, y'all! It's a Grown Folks Music kinda Saturday Night for yours truly! And it doesn't get much more grown-folksier (yes, I made up that word) than the one, the only, Millie Jackson!!
Millie Jackson is one of those artist that I discover way to dayum late in my life, seriously. I think that when you turn 16, a girl should be given a Millie Jackson "Best Of" C.D.! You will learn everything there is to know about being a woman: the good, the bad, the ugly, and the naughty!! LOL
I hope that you all will enjoy her amazing words of wisdom for couples at a crossroads, "If You're Not Back In Love By Monday"!
And can I please recreate this picture one day, please?!?!

A Little [PRINCE] for a Saturday Night
It's another Saturday Night in cold NYC, and I thought that warrants a song selection guaranteed to raise the temperature. Who else could fulfill that demand like Prince?
My pick is his amazing rendition of Joni Mitchell's "Case of You". This song makes me daydream like mad, and I hope you all will listen and daydream with me. Enjoy!

A Little [TEDDY PENDERGRASS] for a Saturday Night
There isn't a bought of the blues strong enough to withstand the beautiful and awesome power of Teddy Pendergrass' voice. This week's for a Saturday Night song is one that I proudly admit is prominently featured in my "I Wish a Man Would Play This For Me" playlist!! LOL
If you're lucky enough to have someone to share your Saturday Night with, take a few moments to cuddle and slow dance a little to "You're My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration". If (like me), you're solo, you can listen and dance around your place anyway!!

A Little [TRINA BROUSSARD] for a Saturday Night
Tonight's song will be the last one in my "Grown Folks Music" series... for now. I've talked about how influential the movie Love Jones
was for me in my late teens/early twenties, and the soundtrack was equally (if not more) prominent in my life.
I remember when I first got the c.d. like it was yesterday. I was shopping at Green Acres Shopping Mall with my girl Nerissa and her sister Tammy. I bought the c.d. at Sam Goody, and we played it in the car on the drive back to their house, and it was the greatest feeling in the world!!!! I felt so grown up at the time! LOL
I'm sure those of your familiar with the soundtrack will realize that tonight's song is Trina Broussard's sultry remake of Minnie Riperton's "Inside My Love
".

A Little [D'ANGELO] for a Saturday Night
My second choice for the "Grown Folks" series for a Saturday Night was a tough one for me, because I had a heck of a time trying to figure out which version of tonight's song choice to select. While the original version is one that is special to my honey and I (I can remember many nights we spent in Corning with the song playing in the background.... mmmm!), I have a soft spot for D'Angelo's remake of the song. And... if I selected the D'Angelo version, I could use it as an excuse to post this:
So you can get the motivation for my decision! LOL I hope you all will enjoy "Heaven Must Be Like This
" by D'Angelo, and I hope that you will stare at the above picture and sigh... :-)

A Little [ADELE] for a Saturday Night
When I was much younger, I would wear tapes OUT from playing them over and over again (This was back when you had to rewind the whole thing to go back to the beginning! LOL).
I have a feeling that if this song came out back then, this tape would've been worn to a string, because I have been playing the video over and over again for the past few weeks. I knew I could look no further for my Saturday night song choice. I hope you all will enjoy the sultry voice of Adele, and her video "Rolling in the Deep
"

A Little [MILES DAVIS] for a Saturday Night
Another Saturday Night, another opportunity for some sweet, sultry jazz music. I had to pick Miles Davis for the last week. I just had to!
I hope you all will enjoy vibing out to "'Round Midnight
", a few hours before the witching hour. And if you listen to it again a little later, as I will... then that's cool, too!

A Little [JOHN LEGEND] for a Saturday Night

This Saturday Night... I am in a bit of a mellow mood, so I decided to pick a song that encapsulates that feeling. I am hoping that wherever you are, that "Slow Dance" courtesy of John Legend will put a smile on your face and make your Saturday Night a terrific one.

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

It's another Monday, Y'all! Are you ready to begin another week? Hands? LOL
When you're in a relationship and both you and your significant other work full-time, it can be hard to find the time for romance. Many people look forward to the weekend, as it could perhaps provide you with an opportunity to have some alone time... even if it's just a few moments in bed cuddling!
This week's song selection for Music Therapy is one to inspire you to make it through the week... and to find the time for romance between the 9 to 5! I hope you all will enjoy Johnny Mercer's "Midnight Sun" sung beautifully and masterfully by the one, the only, Ella Fitzgerald.
Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice,
Warmer than the Summer night.
The clouds were like an alabaster palace,
Rising to a snowy height.
Each star its own Aurora Borealis,
Suddenly you held me tight,
I could see the midnight sun.
I can't explain the silver rain that found me,
Or was that a moonlit veil?
The music of the universe around me,
Or was that a nightingale?
And then your arms miraculously found me,
Suddenly the sky turned pale,
I could see the midnight sun.
Was there such a night?
It's still a thrill I don't quite believe;
But after you were gone
There was still some stardust on my sleeve!
The flame of it may dwindle to an ember,
And the stars forget to shine,
And we may see the meadow in December,
Icy white and crystalline.
But oh, my darlin', always I'll remember
When your lips were close to mine,
And I saw the midnight sun.
The flame of it may dwindle to an ember,
And the stars forget to shine,
And we may see the meadow in December,
Icy white and crystalline.
But oh, my darlin', always I'll remember
When your lips were close to mine,
And I saw the midnight sun,
The midnight sun,
The midnight sun,
The midnight sun.
