:::drools::: Solange Knowles-style for Plus Size Fashionistas
I've featured Solange Knowles a lot in this blog. Primarily because I think she's dope: Love her music, love her attitude, and I love love LOVE her style! I wasn't going to comment on this outfit (Despite my utter worship of it!), because I've mentioned her so much, but it truly was beyond my control.
I saw the photos of Solange at the grand opening of Dream Downtown, PH-D Rooftop Lounge and Marble Lane Restaurant here in NYC, and days after I had resigned myself not to do another outfit post, the outfit pieces jumped out at me everywhere I went! LOL I asked the peeps on the Miss Moon's Musings FaceBook page (Check it out if you haven') if I should do the post and the response was so positive, I felt compeled to change my mind and share the outfit I've created, inspired by Solange's look -
Top: Cassidy Cutout Top ($26.90 - $28.90, Alloy)
Pants: ASOS CURVE Exclusive Belted Wide Leg Pants ($60.34, Asos)
Pumps: Madden Girl Oyzter Pump ($39.95, DSW)
Purse: Small Mock Croc Leatherette Handbag ($26.80, Forever 21)
Earrings: Charming Life 22k Gold Overlay Smokey Quartz Bali Earrings (Starting at $17.49, Overstock.com)
To complete your look, be sure to rock a coral lip. A good color to start with is Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick #38 ~ Satin Coral ($19, Sephora)
I am really digging this shade. Not too sure it would be a good fit for my complexion, but I plan on checking it out at my local Sephora to see how it looks on me.
There you have it!! How awesome would this outfit be on a informal first date, meeting for drinks? Sooo hot!!
Of course, if you end up taking over for the DJ, why not impress your date and keep the party people shouting?!?!? LOL

:::drools::: Color Block Your Summer!!!
Color Blocking is one fashion trend I wasn't always excited about. At first, I admit to being a bit hesitant to try it, because I thought big girls were possibly not made for this trend (I believe the words I used was "I don't want to look like no bag of skittles!!" LOL). My own self-deprecation aside, I did try color blocking in a small way, and I loved how it looked. It's the perfect way to add a bit of pizzazz in your wardrobe, and it's a beautiful summer look! I've recreated 4 celebrity color block looks for plus size fashionistas and I must say that when color blocking, the best place to go is OneStopPlus.com... you're able to sort by color and clothing type!!
The first look, is Demi Moore's and it is (I think) the most easy to rock, perfect for someone who was like me and interested in color blocking but a little hesitant to do so -
Pants: Sateen Crop Pant in Lipstick Red ($39.99, Lane Bryant)
Blazer: Jessica London Blazer Single-Breasted in Black ($49.99 - $54.99, One Stop Plus)
Tee: A-line Ruffled Tunic in White ($12.99 - $15.99, Woman Within)
Shoes: Phoxy Embellished Wedge ($26.99, Payless)
Purse: Faux Croc Bag ($16.80, Forever21)
The next look is from Garcelle Beauvais, and like the previous outfit, it's color block mildly done, but a bit more vibrant than Demi's -
Suit: Jessica London Double-Breasted Pantsuit in Ivory ($59.99 - $119.99, One Stop Plus)
Top: Woman Within Perfect tank top in Rose Pink ($9.99, One Stop Plus)
Pumps: Cobalt Blue Suede Casual Platform ($12.99, Ami Clubwear)
Jewels: Eye Candy Necklace ($6.80, Forever 21)
Clutch: Coloriffics Handbags Pleated Smooth Metallic Evening Bag in Gold ($26.99, Buy.com)
The next look comes courtesy of the beautiful Solange Knowles, and this is actually one I'd love to recreate for myself. It incorporates more color, but because she opted for softer pastels, its color blocking without being too overwhelming -
Pants: Taillissime Wide Leg Pants in Pacific Blue ($39.99 - $44.99, One Stop Plus)
Top: Anna Scholz Sleeve Detail Top in Coral ($46.00, Simply Be)
Scarf: Leopard Print Scarf ($15.60, Go Jane)
Pumps: G By Guess Vianaa Pump in Nude ($44.95, DSW)
Clutch: Proa Bright Multi Clutch ($38.00, Aldo Shoes)
Last, but most definitely not least, we have color blocking à la June Ambrose, y'all. This one goes balls to the walls, no-holds-barred, technicolor crazy in the BEST way. I admit, I had to tone down a bit of the color, (I could not find a pair of pants that shade ANYWHERE in plus sizes!) but it remains a look that is not for the feint of heart -
Top: Avenue Asymmetrical Drape Tank in Fuschia ($24.90, One Stop Plus)
Jacket: Jessica London Blazer With Mandarin Collar in Dark Orange ($49.99 - $54.99, One Stop Plus)
Pants: Joanna Hope Linen Blend Pants in Black ($47.00, SimplyBe)
Shoes: Privileged Kathy Teal Snakeskin Keyhole Platform Pumps ($35.00, Lulu's)
Clutch: Purple Crinkle Faux Leather Pleat Handle Clutch ($25.99, Ami Clubwear)
Have you been experimenting with color blocking this season? Which of these celeb's looks are your faves? Be sure to post a comment and let me know what you think!!

:::drools::: SimplyBe's Simply Beautiful!!!!

I knew I was in trouble when I got home last Friday to find the newest SimplyBe catalog waiting for me in my mailbox. I have managed to avoid succumbing to temptation before, but from glancing at a few pages I knew I was in for it!
I have not purchased a single thing from SimplyBe since learning of their existence. Primarily because I know that when turning the pages of their catalog, I am going to want at least 95% of what I see, and frankly... I don't have money like that, I'm just a Customer Service Rep! LOL
So recognizing that I cannot, should not and will not break the bank buying everything I see that makes me go "Ooooh!", I decided to make a list of what I like so far, and over the next few months, armed with coupon codes (They have a lot of them, which is always a plus!!), I will be getting some of the items on my list.
I'd like to branch Miss Moon's Musings out to include more outfit posts, and over the past few months, I have been tremendously inspired by Juanette from Fashion Nette-work, Reiko from God's Favorite Shoes, Lexi from Beauty Fash and Chastity from The Curvy Girls Guide to Style. I mean to do these fabulous ladies proud, so I have to make sure I'm on point, you know?
So here are a few of the items that have caught my eye the most:

A. Block Print Tunic - $58.00
B. Anna Scholz Cargos - $51.00
C. Print Maxi Dress - $69.00
D. Jersey Top - $50.00
E. Cheryl Wide Leg Jean - $62.00
(In Dark Indigo, Mid Blue or Black - pictured)
F. Anna Scholz Cover Up - $52.00
G. Viva La Diva Fringe Sandal - $57.00
(In Black, Cornflower or Stone - pictured)
H. Angel Ribbons Stud Trim Tunic -$49.00
(In Black, Stone or Orange - pictured)
I. Angel Ribbons Maxi Dress and Camisole - $73.00
J. Shaped Hem Tunics Pack - $33.00
(In Berry/Navy, Red/Khaki, Teal/Black or Aubergine/Stone - pictured)
So you can see my dilemma judging from this "small" list of mine!!LOL Where oh where do I start!?!?!? What's your pick for the first item I rock from SimplyBe? Comment with your pick!!

What SHE'S Rockin': Stephanie's Wonderful Weekend Look!
I love sharing outfits that I hope will inspire (from celebrity styles to most recently, my own ensembles), It seems that the natural progression would be finding inspiration from other people. I am blessed to have a lot of friends who are true fashionistas, and was very honored that my girl Stephanie has consented to be my first profile in the newest addition to Miss Moon's Musings,What SHE'S Rockin' -

I love this outfit!! I think it's vibrant and summery!! She also looks stylish AND comfortable... which is a big plus for me - as I am sure it is for Stephanie, who is the proud Mom of a beautiful (and energetic!!) two-year-old daughter!!!

It was loads of fun recreating this look - And I think that I've come up with a comparable ensemble:

Groovy Escape Top ($17.80, Faith 21)
Safari Studded Belt ($29.50, Lane Bryant)

Destroyed Slouch Bermuda Shorts - Dark Wash ($21.99, The Avenue)

Jessica Simpson - Frida Brown Wedge ($79.00, Torrid)

Comsi Comsa Sequin Woven Tote with Wristlet ($29.90, HSN)
Thank you, Stephanie!!! You are definitely rockin' that look!!!!
If you'd like to be featured in a future What SHE'S Rockin' post, send your picture with a little bit about your style and the event you're dressed for here. Recreating these looks are a fun challenge for me, so I hope to hear from you soon!

:::drools::: Kelis-style for Plus Size Fashionistas
Say what you want about Kelis - she has a definitive style and has a talent for picking items guaranteed to turn heads!! Many have accused a certain Pop-Diva (Not naming any names, but her name rhymes with "Baby Ma Ma"! LOL)of swagger jacking Kelis' style, but I am certainly not going to! My focus is on Kelis tonight!

Truth be told, I think that this look is one of her more subtle ensembles, but she is working it nonetheless and I instantly knew I have to copy this one for my plus size sistren!
For this look I selected the Mossimo® Women's Kimono Sleeve Maxi Dress in Turquoise ($24.99, Target), originally*....because I could not find a printed kimono sleeve maxi dress to save my life!!! My attitude was that if I couldn't do the colorful print, I'd hit 'em with the beautiful color of turquoise (which is one of my favorite shades of blue!)
*UPDATE 7/16/10*: I was playing it a bit safe when recreating this look and I called myself on it!! I saw this dress today and I knew I had to replace the target dress for this one AND I was able to find a belt!!!

The dress is the La Boheme Maxi Dress ($168.00, IGIGI) and I think this dress is so lovely, it is on my list for possible wedding gowns.
I couldn't find an exact replica of the belt Kelis is wearing, but I found something not exactly similar, but complimentary:

Brown Woven Belt With Brass Buckle ($24.00, Torrid)
When I decided to recreate this outfit, I IMMEDIATELY KNEW that I was going to incorporate this necklace into the ensemble. I've been stalking the Etsy Shop PeaceImages for about a month now, and I haven't settled on what item I would pick for my first purchase!!
For this outfit, I selected the redefinition... necklace. ($39.50, Etsy)

That necklace is the SHIZ-NIT!! And those of you who know me know.. I am not a gold wearer, but I was certainly contemplating this necklace!!!
For her earring, I found the Etched Flower Disc Earrings in Gold ($3.80, Forever21)

Finally, I selected the Kingston Bangles ($15, Lulu's) which I thought was a lovely way to adorn your wrist

What I'm Rockin': Shecky's Girls Night Out NYC
I seriously love fashion blogs. I love when people give us a sneak peek into hot they assemble their looks and show us the finished product.
While I am always quick to post wardrobe ideas and suggestions based on celebrity looks, I've never let you take a peek into what I'm wearing.... until now!
Introducing, another new feature of my blog, simply entitled "What I'm Rockin'" ... Last night I attended Shecky's Girls Night Out at 82 Mercer in Manhattan, and of course I had to look my best for a night out with the girls!!
This is what I'm rockin':
Black Flutter-sleeve Knit Dress ($49.50, Lane Bryant)This dress features soft flutter-sleeves, peasant-style elastic at the neck and an empire waist that provides gentle, flattering gathers.
Circle Disc Earrings ($14.50, Lane Bryant)Western-inspired silvertone disc earrings feature a hammered design and an oxidized finish. Open hooks with clear cylinder backs.
Multi-row Silvertone and Hematite Necklace ($29.50, Lane Bryant)Fashion necklace is highlighted by alternating rows of silvertone and hematite chains accented by smooth and textured discs. Lobster-claw closure with extender.
Women's Plus Cropped Denim Jackets ($29.50, Old Navy) This denim jacket features a cropped silhouette and an '80’s-inspired pointed hem in front... I love this jacket to death and I often pair it with dresses for work.
Black Aunika Boot ($48.98, Torrid) Flat-soled boot has a banded top with hook-loop fastener 0-ring strap. Zipper on outer side, goring the full length of inner side. Rounded toe.
The glasses were a part of my Shecky's Girls Night Out Goodie Bag!!! It was literally crammed with loads of goodies!!!!!

:::drools::: Nicole Ritchie-style for Plus Size Fashionistas
If it's summer and it's Saturday... you can't go wrong with a maxi dress and a denim jacket. I simply adore Nicole Ritchie's style, and I love how the vibrant purple of the maxi dress really pops beneath the denim jacket!!
Recreating this look (of course) begins with finding a kick-ass maxi dress. I selected the Black and Multi Gardenia Print Maxi Dress ($78.00, Torrid)
Like Nicole's, this dress has a smocked elastic empire waist. I also like the fact that the staps are adjustable.
I topped the dress off with the Coastal Blues Denim Jacket ($39.90, Avenue)
Inspired by the laid back style of the coast, this jacket comes in Dark Wash or Medium Wash.
And because I am getting in the habit of being super meticulous about providing you with complete wardrobe selections, I did not forget about her flip-flops or her shades!
For the flip-flops, you can't beat the Women's Embellished Sling-Back Flip-Flops ($9.50, Old Navy).
I chose the flip flops in orchid, but if you are interested in the brown shade Nicole's rocking, these shoes are also available in Brown Floral that's similar.
And finally, if you don't feel like wearing Ray Bans, you can always finish this ensemble with the Purple Lucky Star Sunglasses ($15.00, Torrid)
