Music Therapy with Miss Moon

When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
~ Alexander Graham Bell

" I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done. "
~ Lucille Ball

" A man is not old until his regrets take the place of his dreams"
~ Yiddish Proverb

" I never regret anything. Because every little detail of your life is what made you into who you are in the end. "
~ Drew Barrymore

I admit it. I'm a girl that dwells on the "could-a... would-a... should-a's" in my life. I wonder what my life would be like today if I made different choices, listened to those red flags, said "NO!" when I really wanted to. And I guess it's something we all do from time to time... but I really do it a little too much. And I need to change it.

The first step in realizing that all of the choices I've made in my 35 years have lead me to where I am today. And more importantly, who I am today. And I'm... pretty kick ass, I think. I'm getting better with age, and that's due to my experiences. So instead of wringing my hands and shaking my head, I should express gratitude for where I have been, because I am now where I am, and that's someplace fabulous!

For today's Music Therapy with Miss Moon song choice, I share a great song by Darius "Not Hootie" Rucker. I hope you all will enjoy "This", and I hope it serves as a reminder to live your lives without regret, as you're wonderful and so is everything that is and everything's that to come!

Got a baby girl sleeping in my bedroom
And her mama laughing in my arms
There's the sound of rain on the rooftop
And the game's about to start

I don't really know how I got here
But I'm sure glad that I did
And it's crazy to think that one little thing
Could've changed all of it

Maybe it didn't turn out like I planned
Maybe that's why I'm such, such a lucky man

For every stoplight I didn't make
Every chance I did or I didn't take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart

All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn't know
Thank God for all I missed
'Cause it led me here to this

Like the girl that I loved in high school
Who said she could do better
Or that college I wanted to go to
'Til I got that letter

All the fights and the tears and the heartache
I thought I'd never get through
And the moment I almost gave up
All lead me here to you

I didn't understand it way back when
But sitting here right now, it all makes perfect sense

For every stoplight I didn't make
Every chance I did or I didn't take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart

All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn't know
Thank God for all I missed
'Cause it led me here to this

How I cried when my mama passed away
But now I've got an angel looking out for me today
So nothing's a mistake

For every stoplight I didn't make
Every chance I did or I didn't take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart

All the doors that I had to close
Everything I knew but I didn't know
Thank God for all I missed
'Cause it led me here to this
It led me here to this
