Music Therapy with Miss Moon

Worry is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained.”
~ Arthur Somers Roche

" There is nothing that wastes the body like worry, and one who has any faith in God should be ashamed to worry about anything whatsoever."
~ Mahatma Gandhi

Worry is as useless as a handle on a snowball.”
~ Mitzi Chandler

Several months ago, I made the decision to end what was probably the most important relationship I've had in my lifetime.  And I have not looked back with regret yet. As a result of this breakup, I have been happier, and I have literally lightened up in the process.

Yes... I have broken up with my need to worry about everything in my life. When I thought very clearly about it, I realized that it was the best thing for me. And yes, it's scary, but what did worrying EVER help me to accomplish?!? Absolutely nothing. So, I've given worry the boot, and welcome opportunity, growth, and blessings in its place.

After a break up of this magnitude, I find it's always great to find a great love song to play, and when you are looking for love songs.... you can't do better than Stevie Wonder!

So I hope you all will enjoy today's Music Therapy with Miss Moon song pick, "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing", and I hope that it will inspire you to put worry where it belongs... the curb!

Everybody's got a thing
But some don't know how to handle it
Always reachin' out in vain
Accepting the things not worth having but

Don't you worry 'bout a thing
Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama
Cause I'll be standing on the side
When you check it out

They say your style of life's a drag
And that you must go other places
But just don't you feel too bad
When you get fooled by smiling faces but

Don't you worry 'bout a thing
Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama
Cause I'll be standing on the side
When you check it out...Yeah
When you get it off...your trip
Don't you worry 'bout a thing...Yeah
Don't you worry 'bout a thing...Yeah

Don't you worry 'bout a thing
Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama
Cause I'll be standing on the side
When you check it out...
When you get it off...your trip

Everybody needs a change
A chance to check out the new
But you're the only one to see
The changes you take yourself through

Don't you worry 'bout a thing
Don't you worry 'bout a thing, pretty mama
Cause I'll be standing in the wings
When you check it out

Don't you worry 'bout a thing

Break up with worry today! Leave a comment with your "Dear Worry" letter! Be sure to mention what you plan on replacing worry with! :)

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

What we seek we shall find; what we flee from flees from us.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

" You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do."
~ Eleanor Roosevelt

" No man is a failure who is enjoying life."
~ William Feather

I consider myself pretty brave most of the time, but I am fessin' up and admitting that I am a HUGE CHICKEN when it comes to a lot of things.

What I'm starting to discover is that fear really prevents me from accomplishing some pretty kick ass things. It also stops growth and (this may come as a surprise)... it stops me from having fun! When I think about all the opportunities I've missed out on to have fun because I was scared of something, I cringe. What was I so afraid of? Failure, rejection, disappointment... all of those poisons that are designed to keep us stagnant.

I've recently decided that I was going to face up to some of these fears and opt for fun. When I feel scared, I think to myself, "Fear or Fun, Audrey.... It's YOUR choice!". I won't lie to you, I don't always pick fun all the time. But I've made the right choice several times lately, and I haven't had a single regret yet! ::knocks wood::

As ashamed as I am to admit this, but despite having an older sister that was a SUPER Queen fan.. it was until much later in my life (and thanks to Hollywood) that I discovered how awesome the band was. I mean, who doesn't bang their heads along with Wayne and Garth to "Bohemian Rhapsody"?!? LOL

This week's choice for Music Therapy with Miss Moon is a song I first remember hearing in the film, "Shaun of the Dead". It's an awesome flick, so check it out if you haven't already! It's become a song I use to psych myself up when I need to make the inevitable choice of fun over fear. I hope you all will enjoy "Don't Stop Me Now". And don't let anyone or anything stop you from having fun... especially your own fears! Just call me Audrey Fahrenheit! ;)

Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive and the world it's turning inside out Yeah!
I'm floating around in ecstasy
So don't stop me now don't stop me
'Cause I'm having a good time having a good time

I'm a shooting star leaping through the skies
Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
I'm a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva
I'm gonna go go go
There's no stopping me

I'm burning through the skies Yeah!
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm trav'ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man of you

Don't stop me now I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time just give me a call
Don't stop me now ('Cause I'm having a good time)
Don't stop me now (Yes I'm having a good time)
I don't want to stop at all

I'm a rocket ship on my way to Mars
On a collision course
I am a satellite I'm out of control
I am a sex machine ready to reload
Like an atom bomb about to
Oh oh oh oh oh explode

I'm burning through the skies Yeah!
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm trav'ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic woman out of you

Don't stop me don't stop me don't stop me
Hey hey hey!
Don't stop me don't stop me
Ooh ooh ooh (I like it)
Don't stop me have a good time good time
Don't stop me don't stop me
Ooh ooh Alright
I'm burning through the skies Yeah!
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm trav'ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic woman of you

Don't stop me now I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time
Just give me a call
Don't stop me now ('Cause I'm having a good time)
Don't stop me now (Yes I'm having a good time)
I don't wanna stop at all

La la la la laaaa
La la la la
La la laa laa laa laaa
La la laa la la la la la laaa hey!!....

Music Therapy with Miss Moon

" Projections change the world into the replica of one's own unknown face." - Carl Jung

This week's choice for Music Therapy is a fun song with very witty lyrics and a killer punch line at the end, but for me it also serves as a reminder that our negativity is always present, and like a monster it can be scary but ultimately it must be faced if you're ever going to find peace.

The Boogie Monster
Gnarls Barkley

I've got a monster in my closet
Someone's underneath my bed
The wind's knocking at my window
I'd kill it but it's already dead

It waits till the midnight hour to come
To torture me for the wrong i've done
it just sits there and stares me
And it won't let me get any sleep

I've got a monster in my closet
Someone's underneath my bed
The wind's knocking at my window
I'd kill it but it's already dead

At first I was scared when
I looked at his eyes
But now that I know him I'm not that surprised
I'm just waiting on the sun to rise
Oh how I wish that old sun would rise

I've got a monster in my closet
Someone's underneath my bed
The wind's knocking at my window
I'd kill it but it's already dead

I used to wonder why he looked familiar
Then I realized it was a mirror
And now it is plain to see,
The whole time the monster was me

I've got a monster in my closet
Someone's underneath my bed
The wind's knocking at my window
I'd kill it but it's already dead

Yeah Mmm The living dead
Only thing that could bring it back alive, Woman
Is some good good head
(Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha)
