Miss Moon's Musings Third Birthday Giveaway: Day One!!!

Whoo Hooo!!! Today is the THIRD ANNIVERSARY of Miss Moon's Musings!!!! It seems like only yesterday that this blog was created. Where does the time go?!?

I started my blog on this day, way back in 2009 for a very good reason. June 9th is also the day one of my greatest she-ro's in the world, my late Grandmother Vivian was born. I thought it would be awesome to celebrate my blog's birthday and her birthday each year! And it has been! :)

My Grandmother (with Grandpa, of course!) on a date way back in the day. As you can see... I am definitely "Vivian 2.0"! It always astonishes me how much I look like her!

Three is definitely a magic number to me, so I knew that I wanted to make this third birthday a very, very special one. So I reached out to some of my favorite shops online and asked if they wanted to join in on the fun. To my utter delight, they did! So with great excitement, I hereby announce.... the Miss Moon's Musings Third Birthday Giveaway!!! Yippeee!!!

DOPE: "Dekho Na" from "Fanaa"

Wow!! I haven't done a DOPE post in a super-long time, huh?!? There was a time where I would be so stressed out because I couldn't find poetry and other things that I wanted to share for this particular series of Miss Moon's Musings. After a while, I decided that I could very easily let it go.... and trusted in myself that when inspiration would strike then I will take advantage. Thus... this post!

Most of you should know that I am absolutely cuckoo for all things Bollywood. I recently saw a film that sent me on an emotional rollercoaster... I sighed, I swooned, I raged, I laughed, I cried. "Fanaa" is dope as hell!! It's also streaming on Netflix, so check it out!

Today I am sharing one of the most breathtaking scenes from the movie, and the song that accompanies it. I hope you all will swoon along with me (Aamir Khan.... yum!!) to "Dekho Na". I unfortunately couldn't find a subtitled video on YouTube, so I am including the lyrics in Hindi and English (Because I'm fancy like that! LOL). Lyrics courtesy of BollyWhat.com.

yeh saazish hai buundo.n kii
The raindrops are conspiring
koii khwaahish hai chup chup sii
with my hidden desire.
yeh saazish hai buundo.n kii
The raindrops are conspiring
koii khwaahish hai chup chup sii
with my hidden desire.
dekho na...
Just look...

hawaa kuchh haule haule
The soft, gentle breeze
zubaan se kya kuchh bole bole
is saying something extraordinary:
kyo.n duurii hai ab darmiyaan
why this distance between us?
dekho na...
Just look...

phir na hawaa'e.n ho.ngii itnii besharam
Never again will the winds be so impertinent,
phir na Dagmag Dagmag ho.nge ye qadam
or my feet so unsteady beneath me.
haay
Alas...
phir na hawaa'e.n ho.ngii itnii besharam
Never again will the winds be so impertinent,
phir na dag-mag dag-mag ho.nge ye qadam
or these steps so unsteady.
saawan yeh siidha nahii.n khufiyaa baRa
This isn't a straightforward rain; there's something secretive about it;
kuchh to baraste hu'e kah rahaa
it's saying something as it showers down.
samjho na...
Try to understand it...

hawaa kuchh haule haule
The soft, gentle breeze
zubaan se kya kuchh bole bole
is saying something extraordinary:
kyo.n duurii hai ab darmiyaan
why this distance between us?
dekho na...
Just look...

jugnuu.n jaisii chaahat dekho jale bujhe
Watch love, like fireflies, flare and fade away.
miiTHii sii mushkil hai koii kya kare
It's such a sweet difficulty; what can anyone do?
jugnuu.n jaisii chaahat dekho jale bujhe
Watch love, like fireflies, flare and fade away.
miiTHii sii mushkil hai koii kya kare
It's such a sweet difficulty; what can anyone do?
ho.nTHo.n kii arzii aisii THukaraa'o na
Don't rebuff the petition on my lips;
saa.nso.n kii marzii ko jhuTHlaa'o na
don't doubt the desire of my breath.
chhuu lo na...
Touch me...

hawaa kuchh haule haule
The soft, gentle breeze
zubaan se kya kuchh bole bole
is saying something extraordinary:
kyo.n duurii hai ab darmiyaan
why this distance between us?
dekho na...
Just look...

I Heart Her Hair: Tamara Tunie...

I was smack dab in the midst of a SVU marathon a few weeks ago and the realization that I hadn't done an "I Heart Her Hair" post on Tamara Tunie hit me like a ton of bricks.

Seriously how dope is Tamara Tunie as Dr. Melinda Warner?!? I love the episodes when she testifies in court, because she always finds a way to give the Defense attorneys a bit of snarky/sweet quips.. which always makes me chuckle!

She also has a beautiful hair, so sit back.. relax, and enjoy!

Wanna Wanna Wednesday... Aklia's Sunburst Glass Seed Bead Earrings

I'm back with another groovy goodie that is presently taking up residence in the "Must Have" corridors of my mind (Aww.. I'm so poetic! LOL).

This week, I'm sharing the Sunburst Glass Seed Bead Earrings ($75.00,  Aklia's). I've been dying to get a piece from Aklia's line for years and years now, and now that I'm older.. I'm more inclined to invest in something a little bit more pricey, because it's something unique that I can keep for years. Maybe pass this down to a daughter one day.

$75.00 is a bit out of my  budget now, but it won't be always. I am thinking that when I reach my "first level" goal of becoming a size 18, I will celebrate by getting these earrings! I'm down to a 24 now, so I am looking forward to working it out and reaching my goal. And I will be rocking these the moment I do!
