Wanna Wanna Wednesdays: Silver Spike Hoop Earrings by Amrapali

A few weeks ago, I spotted a photograph of Hindi film actress Deepika Padukone at the trailer launch of her upcoming film with Shah Rukh Khan, "Chennai Express". And for once, Shah Rukh was not the focus of my attention.... because my life got MADE with the absolutely stunning earrings Deepika was wearing at the event.

I did a bit of digging and discovered her earrings were made by Amrapali and I thought to myself, "Welp.. I need to wait for someone to make some look alikes, because there is NO WAY I will be rocking Amrapali anytime soon!" LOL

Out of morbid (you could say masochistic) curiosity, I decided to take a look at the Amrapali online store, just to see what the prices are like. And I am shocked to say that my hair didn't turn gray as a result! And I managed to find what is going to be my 36th Birthday present to myself (Though I don't think I can wait until November! lol)

These chunky embellished earrings (Rs. 5,800 - About $150 USD, Amrapali) are SOOO me, and I can see myself rocking them 24/7/365.

Wanna Wanna Wednesdays.... Krobo Quote Bracelets by QuellyRue Designs

This week's Wanna Wanna Wednesday item combines two of my favorite things: Adorning the wrists (those who know me know I'm always with bracelets that jingle jingle when I move) and Inspiring the spirit!

The gorgeous bracelets ($16.00 each, QuellyRue Designs on Etsy) are crafted with Krobo beads and have various inspirational quotes such as, "The journey awakens the soul", "Possibility begins with imagination", "Live in the moment", "Reality has limits, imagination is boundless" and "Dream as if you'll live forever".

I plan on getting each of the aforementioned quotes, because they are truths I need to be reminded of periodically. And if I can look fabulous while being reminded, even better!!!!!!

Wanna Wanna Wednesday... My 35th Birthday Wish List

Happy Halloween, Lovely Friends!! The most exciting thing about the end of October/beginning of November is that my birthday is rapidly approaching! I cannot believe I am turning 35 years old this year! I still feel like a teenager most of the time... which I haven't determined yet if that's a good thing or a bad thing, to be quite honest! LOL

As is my usual custom, there are a couple of items I'd love to have for the big 3-5 this year, so today's Wanna Wanna Wednesday is very special as it contains my Top 5 Birthday Wish List!!!

Joe Brown's Fur Collar Coat  Years and years ago, I had a very similar coat that I scored from Tar-jay, and it's regrettably waay too big for me now. So the fact that I stumbled across this coat seems like the most delicious kismet. It's meant to be, I tells ya!! LOL

Tickets for "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" on November 13th  I've been wanting to see this movie for most of the year, and when it was announced that it was releasing a few short days after my birthday I knew that part of my birthday celebration will have to include me droolin... I mean watching Shah Rukh Khan in this film.

As an added bonus, I recently discovered that the Madame Tussaud's in Times Square has a Bollywood section (including an SRK wax statue), so perhaps I will make a night of it by going to see the film and then head over to Madame Tussaud's to see the statues up close! Add dinner at a great Indian restaurant to the agenda, and my night would be MADE!! LOL

ASOS CURVE Top With Wide Straps And Peplum I don't own a lot of white tops. There's a very specific reason for this... I'm a klutz. I'm older now, and with age comes a certain degree of grace (I'd like to think and don't you dare ruin this delusion for me!), so I think it's time I invest in a nice white top. You know, like a grown up who doesn't need a bib to wear white.

I.K. Jewelry Indian Necklace Set I've been a fan of I.K Jewelry's Ebay Shop since the summer, and when I could, I've purchased a couple of pairs of earrings from them. When I saw this necklace and jewelry set I knew that I needed to add it to my collection. I am very happy to share that this item is one from my list that is presently on its way to be from India!

Lots and Lots More Hindi Films It's not secret that I'm ga ga for Hindi cinema. So much so that my Hindi Cinema collection has grown from one film to around forty something (no jive!)... and I'm all about adding to the collection! I have a killer wish list on Amazon.com and every few weeks snag an item from the list to add! Above are just a few I really really want to get from the wish list!

DearCurves Multicolored Knee Length Skirt It's also not a secret that I'm wild about all things wax print, and I've been searching and searching for months for a lovely wax print skirt. The skirt is not in my present size, but if I keep the Get Healthy momentum going, I predict I could rock this by the spring!!

Wanna Wanna Wednesdays... Meenakari Dangle Earrings

Hooray!! Another item off of my Wanna Wanna Wednesday Wish List!!!

One thing about being an avid watcher of Hindi films, is that if you are jewelry fan (Which I am!), you will drool heavily watching some of the gorgeous pieces worn by the heroines in Hindi film classics. Which I have!! And which is why I am so happy to have stumbled across these gorgeous earrings ($8.92, Dolls of India Art Store). You cannot beat the price for such a versatile pair of earrings... I can totally see myself wearing them with something dressy (It happens... on occasion!) and pairing them with jeans and a tee shirt for a quick trip around the corner.

Wanna Wanna Wednesdays.... Urban Outfitters' Desert Dance Earrings

:::swoons::: These have my name on them so hard, they should just be called the "Audrey, come and put these on your ears NOW!!!" earrings. LOL

These beauties ($28.00, Urban Outfitters) are made for every outfit. Little black dress?!? Add these for a pop of color. Jeans and a tee shirt?!? Rock these to remind them you're very much a lady. I would wear the heck out of these earrings in all the ways I've mentioned and more. How would you rock these?!?

Wanna Wanna Wednesdays... Boho Gold Earrings from Mademoiselle CafeAuLait's Chic Boutique

It's amazing how your tastes change as you get older. I have never ever been much of a fan of gold jewelry... I've always been Miss Sterling Silver. The fact is the only gold jewelry I own is the two gold bangles that belonged to my Grandmother, and I never take them off.

Lately, I notice myself being more and more attracted to golden tones in jewelry, and today's Wanna Wanna  Wednesday item is a reflection of that. It's from one of my favorite Etsy shops  that I love to stalk1!!

These Boho Gold Earrings ($17.00, MlleCafeAuLait Etsy Shop) features gorgeous textured wooden beads, golden wooded spacer discs, and how awesome is the golden teardrop chain?!? I need these earrings in my life in the worst way!! LOL

Wanna Wanna Wednesday... Aklia's Sunburst Glass Seed Bead Earrings

I'm back with another groovy goodie that is presently taking up residence in the "Must Have" corridors of my mind (Aww.. I'm so poetic! LOL).

This week, I'm sharing the Sunburst Glass Seed Bead Earrings ($75.00,  Aklia's). I've been dying to get a piece from Aklia's line for years and years now, and now that I'm older.. I'm more inclined to invest in something a little bit more pricey, because it's something unique that I can keep for years. Maybe pass this down to a daughter one day.

$75.00 is a bit out of my  budget now, but it won't be always. I am thinking that when I reach my "first level" goal of becoming a size 18, I will celebrate by getting these earrings! I'm down to a 24 now, so I am looking forward to working it out and reaching my goal. And I will be rocking these the moment I do!

I'm REALLY Diggin': Deen + Gray's Floating Crescent Hoop Earrings

Being unemployed, I've seriously limited my shopping and try to resist temptation whenever it happens to surface. However... when I spotted Deen + Gray's Floating Crescent Hoops and learned that they were on sale... I had to get them last month. I had to!!! LOL

I'm trying to train myself to not reward myself with food after I've "been good" with my diet and exercise, so these earrings were my "treat" for a job well done. And what a sweet treat they are!!

I was bowled over at how quickly I received them (Literally three days after placing my order they were in my mailbox!) and I was GAGA over the adorable packaging!

The earrings are as gorgeous in person as they are in their pictures! They are extremely light weight and I love that they compliment my fuller face!!

Since this shade of blue is my favorite color (But.. I've mentioned that, right? Besides, I'm sure you've noticed! LOL) I did not have a lack of items to wear to accentuate the earrings. This tunic with embellished collar from Torrid is my favorite combination so far!!

To check out all the amazing goodies, not to mention the Floating Crescent Hoops, be sure to visit the Deen + Gray website at http://www.deenandgray.com/.

It's Wednesday again, and it's time for me to share another item I WANNA WANNA WAAAAANNNNNNNA!!! My spotlight this week is on the gorgeous Senefru Stud Earrings ($40.00, Peace Images).... Totally Fab!!! These double-layer acrylic earrings are hand-inlaid with gold and black acrylic on a black base, and come in two versions: stud or dangle earrings. I personally am ALL ABOUT the studs... Wait, that sounds a bit dirty! LOL

My hair has finally reached a length that I can rock a posh little bun in the back of my head. I always call them "Olive Oyl Buns". These earrings are MADE for this hair style. I can totally see myself rocking these with an all black outfit, with my hair tied back... for a bit of instant POW!! How would you rock these earrings?!?

I'm REALLY Diggin': ArtbyCleatress' African Continent Earrings

Recently, I connected with the wonderful Nik and discovered her awesome blog, Photographer...Naturally via Twitter and was so enthralled by her blog (Check it out!), I became an instant fan and follower.

I decided to participate in her Giveaway for the (ultimate statement) African Continent Earrings, courtesy of ArtbyCleatress on Etsy. Nik had received two in error and the shop owner offered her the second pair on the house. How awesome was it that she decided to give it away to her Blog Followers!?!?

Imagine my excitement and joy when I discovered that I won!!! I am not the type of gal that wins prizes often, so each time it happens I'm always so grateful and appreciative. Nik promptly shipped the earrings to me in Brooklyn and I received them several days later! I couldn't wait to grab the camera and snap pictures!

Despite being told that my neck is not long enough to rock these earrings (Thanks, Mum! LOL) I really loved the way I looked in them and was instantly surprised at how light they were.

I predict that I will be rocking these gorgeous earrings often!!! Thank you so much, Nik!!!

I'm REALLY Diggin': Statement Necklaces that REALLY Say Something!!

This is one trend that I am very very excited about. I love necklaces.... the more unusual and ornate the better!! One of my favorite Ebay acquisitions was a beautiful Bollywood-inspired necklace (that I got for the ridiculously expensive price of $3.00!!!).

(Me in 2007 - wearing the necklace and wearing a severely damaged dyed blow out fro! lol)

I wore this necklace like it was I.D.... it killed with white and classed up a black tee and jeans. I still have the necklace, but it's in need of repair, so it doesn't get out and about much. I think that it's high time I not only get it fixed, but get some friends to keep it company!!!! Here are a few choices (ha!) that I happened to find online...

Multi Feather Necklace in Black ($29.00, Urban Outfitters). Antiqued chain dotted with feather charms for a soft and downy necklace. Would love to rock this one!!

Bright Multi McCampbell Multi-Strand Necklace ($25.00, Aldo). I love this necklace... it has a maasai bead-inspired feel to it, and it would be a great way to add a splash of color to a all black ensemble!!

Coral Cluster Statement Necklace ($16.50, Torrid) Add a pop of color and sparkle .. this would kill 'em dead with a tee jeans and blazer!!!!!!!

Gold World Links Necklace ($60.00, UncommonGoods) What better way to show off the fact that you're one with the world?!?!? The world's continents are depicted in gold plated stainless steel silhouettes, connected to each other with small, decorative chain links, suggesting the interconnectedness of the world we all live in. Also available in silver.

Jeweled Necklace ($12.00, Forever 21) Talk about Pretty in Pink!! A tie up necklace that features a grosgrain body, padded fleece circle front with faceted beads, metal finish plates and paisley designs. Comes with a sheer and shiny pouch with satin drawstring to use for storage.

GUESS Crystal Charm Frontal Necklace ($30.00, Macy's) This necklace is perfect for spring!! A double link chain features a variety of charms, including a turquoise and crystal accented butterfly, clear glass teardrops, a black crystal ribbon, turquoise beads, faceted turquoise crystals, and an open-heart logo with channel-set glass pearls. Necklace crafted in silver tone mixed metal and hematite plated mixed metal with imitation rhodium plating.

Joan Boyce "Timeless Tassel" Multistrand Beaded Tassel Necklace ($29.95, HSN) For days when you're feeling very Holly Golightly and need a bit of sophisticated sparkle for your little black dress!!! Six strands of colored glass beads are gathered at the tassel drop. An adjustablewrap-around swirl station swathed in pavé-set, round clear crystals allows you to customize your own look.

Are you wearing Statement Necklaces?!?!? What's your favorite place to score them?!?! Leave a comment and let us know!

I'm REALLY Diggin': The Natural Necklace by Rachel Stewart Jewelry

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the wonderful presents I planned on getting myself for my 33rd birthday. Regrettably, getting sick and ending up in the hospital prevented that from happening.

Instead of beating myself up about not fulfilling a wish to nurture myself to gift myself in celebration of any important year of my life, I decided to purchase a very special Christmas gift to myself. I knew immediately that what I wanted was the Natural Necklace from Rachel Stewart Jewelry.

The necklace (seen above) comes in gold acrylic, silver acrylic or wood. The pendant is 3 inches wide, 1 inch long and the chain comes included with the necklace!! Of course, I selected the silver pendant, which came today, and I've been rocking it ever since!!!

To get your own Natural Necklace, head on over to Rachel Stewart Jewelry's website by clicking here.

I'm REALLY Diggin': Djauniversal's Feather Earrings

I love feather earrings... they always remind me of Alice Walker's "The Temple of My Familiar" (One of my top five favorite books!):

"In the old country in South America, Carlotta's grandmother, Zede, had been a seamstress, but really more of a sewing magician. She was the creator of clothing, especially capes, made of feathers. These capes were worn by dancers and musicians and priests at traditional village festivals and had been worn for countless generations."

While I've always found them striking and simply beautiful... I've admired them a la distance for a very long time, primarily because I didn't believe that they suited me. My face is too round, my double chin is distracting.. blah blah blah.... As I blogged about, the only purchase I made from Shecky's Girls Night Out was a pair of feather and leather earrings that made me stop DEAD in my tracks!! These earrings were beautiful enough for me to shake loose those negative agreements I've made with myself for years and step outside my comfort zone.... not to mention the wonderful energy from the woman selling them... which is one of the reasons I bought 'em!

I was a bit nervous about whether or not I  could rock them... but I felt great wearing them in the long run, and to me.... feeling great is the main part of rockin' something!

Djauniversal has a terrific Etsy shop, full of equally fabulous feathered finds! Here are a couple of my faves:

Silver-n-Gold Leather Feather Chain Series - $45 - Variations on the silver series with gold accents painted into leather. light cream/ gold feather with gold accent chain. double feather with silver accent chain.

Green Leather Feather Chain Series - $45 - Forest green leather earring, w/ blond & green feather detail & silver chain. OR green leather with black chain detail only. Or green leather with single green feather OR with brown and green feather & chain detail.

Take a stroll over to the Djauniversal Etsy shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/djauniversal You'll be glad you did!

:::drools::: Jewelry I'm Jonesin' For!!!

In the past few years, the amount of jewelry I've purchased has seriously declined. I used to average at least one piece a jewelry a month. Which I guess is not a lot in the grand scheme of things (Especially since none of the pieces came in a little blue box!). But I'm definitely slippin', y'all! LOL

Here are a few items that brought a happy smile to my face (as I fought the urge to rip my credit card out!)....

I've been a hoop girl for years. Just recently I've started really liking the idea of wearing simple posted earrings. Although these earrings are hardly simple! The Brightly Colored Rhinestone Posts ($16.00, Urban Outfitters)are vintage-inspired (which I like) and also come in coral.

I am head over heels in love with the Meliah Collar Necklace ($29.90, Alloy) I would pair this with a simple studded earring for instant drama!!!!

Speaking of drama, I've been spotting a lot of women rocking these twisted fabric necklaces lately. I don't know how I would look in them (Personally I suspect I may resemble Mr. T! lol), but at the price, it may be worth stepping out of my comfort zone.... the Black Chiffon Silver Chain Twisted Necklace ($16.00, Torrid)... What do you think?

Incidentally, I did make one purchase at last week's Shecky's Girls Night Out... and it was earrings. I've been waiting to do a "I'm really diggin'" post to showcase the earrings (She has a DOPE Etsy shop), which you can be on the look out for these next few days!!
